George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham, to name but a few, have forged a legacy for Manchester United's No.7 shirt. But it's also been in possession of some non-legendary players.

And since Cristiano Ronaldo - who also donned No.7, left in 2009, the players wearing the shirt have only managed a handful of Premier League goals.

11 to be precise.

Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia, Angel Di Maria and Memphis Depay only scored 11 of Manchester United's 617 Premier League goals. Numbers courtesy of football writer Richard Jolly.

Owen arrived at Old Trafford from Newcastle United, bagging five league goals during his stint including a memorable match-winner against cross-town rivals, Manchester City in 2009.

Valencia was handed the No.7 shirt after signing from Wigan Athletic. Though netted one league goal while wearing the No.7 shirt, before switching positions and number (25).

Di Maria was the next to be bestowed with the iconic number. He only weighed in with three league goals. Though one of them was his delightful chip against Leicester City.

And, finally Depay. The Dutch winger had the reputation as a buccaneering winger yet failed to impress. Following a £25 million move from PSV Eindhoven, he scored just the two league goals.

So, Owen, Valencia, Di Maria and Depay produced just 11 league goals while wearing the No.7 shirt for United.

Jose Mourinho and the United faithfuls will he hoping their latest No.7 fares a lot better.

And taking such a historic shirt only motivates Sanchez to lift silverware.

"When they told me that Cristiano, Cantona, David Beckham had all worn it, just thinking about that number seven sets you off dreaming in your head with ideas about lifting the Champions League trophy and winning the Premier League title.

"So yes, I'm fulfilling a dream and I hope to give my very best and win many trophies at this club," he added.

Will Sanchez make his United debut at Huish Park on Friday night in the FA Cup?
