Kevin De Bruyne has overtaken Mesut Ozil in the Premier League assists charts after another masterful display today.

The Belgian scored once and registered two assists as City smashed Watford 8-0 at the Etihad this afternoon, taking his tally to 53 in the English top flight.

He moves one ahead of Arsenal playmaker Ozil, who has 52 in 167 appearances.

After delivering two vintage pinpoint crosses against the Hornets, De Bruyne now joins Robin van Persie, Leighton Baines and Emile Heskey on 53 and will no doubt have his sights set on breaking Thierry Henry's record of 20 assists in a single season.

He already has seven in six appearances so far this term and there's still 32 games for him to achieve the feat.

The former Chelsea man never got going in his first spell in England and was written off by plenty when he returned to the Premier League in a £54 million deal from Wolfsburg.

But De Bruyne, who prefers getting assists to scoring goals, has proved to be an utter revelation at City and is quite possibly the best player in the league at the moment.

He missed pretty much the whole of last season but reminded us all how special a player he is with a devastating cameo against Watford in the FA Cup final thrashing at Wembley.

The Genk youth product has started the 2019/20 season in the same vein and will no doubt be one of the favourites to win the PFA Player of the Year award - even at this early stage of the season.
