Kevin De Bruyne hit an absolute rocket in the pick of the goals, as Manchester City romped to a 7-0 annihilation of Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium tonight.

The Belgian scored a brace, which included a superb finish from a tight angle to make it 3-0, before making it 5-0 with a goal which ranks right alongside his finest strikes in a City shirt.

De Bruyne appears to be back with a bang following a frustrating past few weeks, which saw him ruled out after contracting Covid, as this game against Leeds marked his first start in the Premier League since 6th November.

Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones and Nathan Ake were the other goalscorers on the night for Pep Guardiola's side, in what was a bruising evening for Marcelo Bielsa's team.

The result propels City back to the top of the table, and on the evidence of tonight's showing, they will take some beating again in the race for the title.

As for Leeds, they slip down to 16th after suffering their worst-ever defeat in the Premier League, and will hope to bounce back when they welcome Arsenal to Elland Road on Saturday.

Meanwhile, City are back in action on Sunday when they take a trip to Tyneside to face Newcastle United at St James' Park.
