Karim Benzema turned the entire Euro 2020 last 16 game between France and Switzerland on its head in just four second half minutes.

France were many people's pre-tournament favourites but Switzerland landed a shock blow on Monday night when Haris Seferovic headed the opener after 15 minutes.

It was a deserved lead for the Swiss and they had the best chance possible to double it in the 55th minute when VAR spotted that Benjamin Pavard had brought down Steven Zuber in the box.

Ricardo Rodriguez had his penalty saved by Hugo Lloris, down to the keeper's right, and within minutes the game was turned around.

Benzema struck twice within four minutes of the save to make it 2-1, and put the 2018 World Cup winners in touching distance of the quarter finals.

First the Real Madrid striker got on the end of Kylian Mbappe's through ball into the box, before stabbing past Yann Sommer, however it was Benzema's touch to set himself up that really stole the show an will have us watching for hours yet.

If that came as an inevitable blow to Switzerland, just minutes after the missed spot kick, then the second really would have felt like a dagger to their hearts.

This time Griezmann and Mbappe combined with quick feet inside the area before the Barcelona forward clipped a cross over Sommer to Benzema at the back post.

The former Lyon striker was never going to miss from so close and he ran away celebrating.

Didier Deschamps will be hoping that the turn around now sticks and they go on to face Spain in the quarter finals, after the 2012 European Champions beat Croatia earlier in the day.
