Kalvin Phillips Immediately Ran To Bukayo Saka To Console Him After Penalty Miss

Kalvin Phillips immediately ran over to Bukayo Saka to console him after his penalty miss in England's crushing defeat to Italy.

Italy beat England on penalties to win Euro 2020, with Saka failing to score the decisive spot-kick on Sunday.

The Arsenal star was distraught after having his effort saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

But he didn't have long to wait to be comforted as Phillips ran to him in a beautiful moment.

A video shows the Leeds United midfielder running straight to the 19-year-old after his penalty miss, then consoling him in a compassionate gesture that fans loved.

One tweeted: "Kalvin Phillips covered 83km over the course of #EURO2020. More than anyone except Jorginho. He's had a superb tournament, but I think finding the energy and compassion to run to console Bukayo Saka here was his best contribution of all."

A second wrote: "Look at Kalvin Phillips running straight to Bukayo Saka. Classy."

A third added: "That moment when all Italian players run past him celebrating must have been horrific, poor lad well done Kalv."

Another commented: "As a Leeds player and fan he knows pain. So proud to see him do that."

Phillips enjoyed a superb tournament as he starred in midfield alongside Declan Rice.

The 25-year-old proved he's an international calibre player with his performances at Euro 2020.

Though his heartfelt reaction to Saka's penalty may be his shining moment of the summer.
