West Ham United and Everton could be ready to enter the January transfer window to reinforce their squads for the second part of the Premier League season.

The Hammers have recovered from a shaky start to the season and are now 13th in the league with 11 points, while the Toffees are in ninth place with 18 points.

Both clubs are now setting their sights on a former Manchester United star.

According to CalcioMercato (via talkSPORT), West Ham and Everton are both interested in signing Shinji Kagawa.

The 29-year-old Japanese playmaker returned to Borussia Dortmund following his ill-fated spell at United, where he only made 38 appearances during his time at Old Trafford.

The Dortmund star has made over 90 appearances since his 2014 move back to the German club. However, Kagawa has two years left on his current contract after signing an extension in 2017.

"BVB with its incredible fans has grown in my heart," he said at the time (via Goal).

"I am very happy to continue to be a part of this extraordinary club in one of the best leagues in the world with the highest number of spectators."
