Juventus are looking at bringing in reinforcements in central midfield when the transfer window rolls around and a number of big names are on the list.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel is the top target for Massimiliano Allegri. Juventus were desperate to land the Zenit midfielder in the summer to bolster their midfield options after the sale of Paul Pogba to Manchester United, but a move never materialised.
Their interest remains though, and they are reportedly looking at offering a £5.5 million bid in January. If Zenit reject, Juve will wait patiently until the summer window - where Witsel will be available on a free, with his contract expiring in June.
The Bianconeri have other options though and have assembled an impressive back-up shortlist that includes Chelsea duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic. The former is a target for the summer, while Matic would be targeted as early as January.

The other alternative is Paris Saint-Germain's Blaise Matuidi, who is represented by Italian agent Mino Raiola.
The Serie A league leaders aren't exactly thin on midfield options at present, with the likes of Sami Khedira, Claudio Marchisio, Hernanes and Miralem Pjanic. However they are still looking for that final midfield piece, having lost Arturo Vidal, Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba in recent years.
