Juventus could be ready to make one of the biggest moves in the summer transfer window after reports in Italy have emerged that the club are interested in signing Paul Pogba.

According to Sky Sport Italia (via Sky Sports), the Serie A champions have made contact with the 26-year-old Manchester United midfielder's agent, Mino Raiola, about bringing the player back to Turin.

It is further reported that the Red Devils have been alerted to the interest in Pogba from the Old Lady.

The World Cup-winning Frenchman left United in 2012 on a free transfer for Juventus, spending four years in Italy and lifting four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and two Supercoppa Italianas.

In 2016, the Red Devils broke their club-record transfer fee after splashing out £89.3m (€105m) to bring the France international back to Old Trafford.

Pogba has had an up-and-down season at Old Trafford, from his turbulent relationship with ex-United boss José Mourinho to a resurgence in form under current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

The United star has a contract that is set to expire in 2021 -- although the club could trigger a 12-month extension -- and has been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid.

Juventus are in for a busy summer after the departure of Massimiliano Allegri, with Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri widely considered to be the frontrunner for the managerial post.

With United set to miss out on Champions League football after finishing outside of the Premier League's top four, Juventus believe the offer of playing in Europe's top-tier club competition is enough to entice him away from Old Trafford.

Ex-Fulham and United player Louis Saha recently came out to defend Pogba, saying that United were responsible for his bad performances this season.

"I am really a big fan of Paul. You target leadership for the best players in the team and Paul is definitely one of them, so the pressure is always on him," he told the Daily Mirror.

"But it's unfair on him to have this burden all of the time because the set-up of the team is not built with leaders around him -- and perhaps that is not his best quality.

"Of course, he brings a special quality because he can do special things, but I don't think leadership is his strength.

"So let's find the right people to be around him because he can do magic.

"That's what he has been bought by United to do -- rather than as a Roy Keane-type or others that you can compare.

"When I see what is happening with Paul, I would say it is unfair to ask him to do something unnatural to him."

Should United sell Pogba in the summer?
