It may be the worst kept secret in football at the moment, but it would appear that Jose Mourinho is set to be announced as the next Manchester United manager and it's going to be done sooner rather than later.

Reports in Portugal and in The Daily Express claim that Mourinho has already signed a deal to replace Louis Van Gaal at the end of the season and will be officially announced as the next Old Trafford boss within two weeks. Portuguese daily Jornal de Noticias claims that 'The Special One' has "agreed terms" and with the news leaking earlier than expected, it is believed United will bring forward the announcement rather than waiting until the current campaign is over.

The timing is peculiar, however, with Van Gaal currently on a high after United dramatically advanced to their first FA Cup final in nine years after a last gasp victory over Everton in yesterday's semi-final at Wembley.

Mourinho is already believed to be working on transfers ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, with Benfica's Renato Sanches and Braga's Rafa Silva high on his list of priority targets. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also very keen on making the move to the Theatre of Dreams should his former Inter Milan boss replace Van Gaal.
