Jose Mourinho Targets Two Manchester United Stars In Bid To Turn Around Roma Fortunes

Jose Mourinho could be about to raid Manchester United, as the AS Roma manager is reportedly interested in signing two out of favour stars in January.

The former United boss is enduring a challenging start to life in the Italian capital, and hence, is now on the lookout for players who could boost his side's prospects of winning silverware this season.

The defence is viewed as his side's weakest area, which was exemplified best by Roma's 6-1 capitulation against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League.

According to Italian outlet Il Romanista, one such target to try and ease these issues could be Diogo Dalot, the United Right-back.

Mourinho is said to be targeting a loan deal for the 22-year-old, but that isn't where his interest in United defenders ends.

With Victor Lindelof now finding himself outside Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's strongest XI, thanks to the addition of Raphael Varane, the Roma boss is also said to be keen on a move for the Swede.

This represents a big u-turn from the former Spurs boss, who derided the 27-year-old last season for not showing enough fight.

Mourinho claimed Lindelof "could be bullied" aerially, although the Centre-back did not take the comments personally.

"For me it has never been a problem, I'm a very easy guy," Lindelof later told Sky Sports.

"There is always going to be someone talking or someone else. When you play for this club there is always going to be people criticising you and the way you play."

United are unlikely to let Lindelof leave given the injury problems they have experienced at Centre-half this season.

Nevertheless, a respectable offer from Roma could test their resolve, as Lindelof is certainly far from being the first name on the teamsheet as things stand.
