Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update on the status of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian scored his second goal in a week with his strike against Spurs at Old Trafford, which finally broke United's barren run of successive draws in the Premier League.

The summer signing deservedly picked up the Man of the Match award but was unfortunately stretchered off in the latter stages of the game when he twisted his ankle under the challenge of Danny Rose.

Saying that the injury looks "nothing serious and will not require surgery", Mourinho predicted that Mkhitaryan will be absent for United's next game but is hopeful that he will be back in time for the tricky Christmas period.

Speaking to MUTV, he said:

"It looks like the next match no, but it looks like nothing really dangerous or needing surgery.

"Hopefully we will have Mkhi on Boxing Day."

United fans will be hoping the 26-year old is back in the fold soon, having become one of the club's key players in recent games.
