Bad news, United fans.

Jose Mourinho has already had to deal with a host of injuries this season, and it appears he's set to be without another key player - potentially for the rest of the season.

The likes of Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, have all faced spells on the sideline.

Rojo, Pogba and Ibrahimovic have just returned to the United fold. But Mourinho may now be without the services of Eric Bailly for a lengthy period of time.

The Portuguese manager has confirmed the defender picked up an injury while on international duty for Ivory Coast, and could even require surgery.

"I think his injury is serious," Mourinho told the clubs website after the 1-0 Premier League victory against Bournemouth on Wednesday.

"I don't know [how long he will be out] but his is an injury that comes from the last time he went with the international team and then we are trying a conservative treatment.

"But, if the conservative treatment is not resulting, probably he will have a surgery procedure but let's wait a little bit more.

When quizzed about the injury, Mourinho replied: "I'm not a doctor, I think the doctor can inform [you]. There's nothing to hide, but I don't want to be speaking about it.

Bailly, 23, has been out of action for United since the start of November.

However, Mourinho is remaining hopeful he can still call upon Bailly this campaign.

"I don't want to be so pessimistic. I want to leave it with a doctor.

"Today [Wednesday], I played [Chris] Smalling and [Phil] Jones and we had [Victor] Lindelof and [Daley] Blind on the bench. Marcos Rojo was injured [against Manchester City] but nothing really big.

"During the whole season, we've had problems with central defenders but because the number is four or five, we manage always to have [players available] and Chris Smalling is playing amazingly well for seven or eight matches in a row maybe, so we are fine," he added.

More injury woes for Mourinho.
