Jorginho's Sensational Highlights Vs Belgium Prove He Might Actually Be A Ballon d'Or Contender

A compilation of Jorginho's complete midfield performance against Belgium proves that shouts for him to be a Ballon d'Or contender might not actually be so daft after all.

Jorginho's Italy teammate Lorenzo Insigne raised eyebrows when he said the Chelsea midfielder should be in the conversation for the richest individual prize in club football.

"I'm not the one deciding if he deserves the Ballon d'Or, but I hope he'll be shortlisted, he deserves so, he is a great player," Insigne said.

"I call him the professor and we are all happy to play with him."

But after helping Chelsea to a second Champions League win, the 29-year-old has been a key player for Italy in their brilliant run to the Euro 2020 semi-finals.

And his display against the No.1 ranked side, at the Allianz Arena, was a masterclass. Dictating the player from deep Jorginho had a ridiculous 99% accuracy - completing 70 out of the 71 short and long passes he played.

In the first half, all 31 of his attempted passes found a teammate.

He was superb on the ball but also showed his intelligence defensively by snuffing out Belgium attacks constructed by the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Youri Tielemans.

Jorginho regained possession nine times for his team and made three interceptions - the most of any Azzurri player in Munich.

The above compilation from @CFC_Comps shows just how underrated the former Napoli man really is. The drag-back to send Hazard back to RC Lens was just utterly disgusting and gave off serious prime Sergio Busquets vibes.

Jorginho could well win the Champions League and the Euros in less than two months and so could well be in the frame for France Football's long-standing award.

But the Ballon d'Or is not even in Jorginho's thoughts at the moment, as he's only focused on collective achievements.

"I don't think about it," Jorginho said, as per Goal.

"Everything that is happening is the consequence of hard work.

"My priority is the group and celebrating together with my team-mates and friends. This is more beautiful than celebrating alone."
