John Terry Ends His Chelsea Career In The Worst Way Possible

Unlucky, John

John Terry looks to have played his final game for Chelsea today after he was sent off in their 3-2 defeat to Sunderland.

The Stamford Bridge captain was given his marching orders late on in the Stadium of Light clash after picking up two yellow cards.

Ordinarily a player would be suspended for one game if the red came after two yellows.

But Terry has already been sent off this season so this red card means he'll automatically miss his next two games - meaning he'll sit out Chelsea's final two matches of the season against Leicester and Liverpool.

That's according to European football writer Colin Millar on Twitter:

Terry's contract at Stamford Bridge ends this summer and he'd already announced earlier in the season that he wasn't going to sign an extension.

But this probably isn't the way he wanted to end his legendary career with the club.

He made his Chelsea debut 18 years ago and has since went on to make 703 appearances for them, lifting four Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, one Europa League and one Champions League.

Terry is arguably the club's greatest ever player and to see his career there end on a red card will be disappointing for him and everyone connected with the Blues.
