Well this could get a little bit awkward...

John Terry has reportedly bought a new house within a stone's throw away from former teammate Wayne Bridge.

The pair played together for club and country but naturally their relationship soured when it was alleged that the former Chelsea skipper had slept with Bridge's ex-girlfriend of four years, Vanessa Perroncel - who he has a son to - just weeks after they had split.

The rumoured fling was kept hush hush courtesy of a super-injunction to begin with but the details soon came out in the press.

And now, according to The Sun, via The Mirror, a very awkward encounter could be on the cards with the news that Terry and wife Toni have forked out £4.35million on a new plush mansion said to be just 'a few minutes walk away' from Bridge's property in Surrey.

Bridge has lived in his current house with wife Frankie for two years now but is now set to have a new neighbour he probably won't want to have a brew with - with a source telling The Sun, "It's going to be pretty hard" for them to avoid crossing paths at some point.

In 2010, after the reported scandal was all over the newspapers, Bridge famously refused to shake Terry's hand ahead of Manchester City's 4-2 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Carlos Tevez, who bagged two, squared up against Terry during the game and pointed to Bridge when he scored his second in the victory.

Craig Bellamy, also on the scoresheet, memorably ripped into Terry during a post-match interview, while City players wore 'Team Bridge' t-shirts during the warm up.

Bridge, speaking about the game for the first time in an interview with The Sun in 2017, appreciated the backing his teammates gave him.

He said: "I could not believe the atmosphere at the game that day and the reaction of my team-mates, in the build up to the match and during."

"I still don't think anyone knows the full story but my team-mates that day were amazing. I felt like my team-mates wanted to win, for me.

"Players like Carlos Tevez and Craig Bellamy, who afterwards said some things I couldn't believe."
