After hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons yesterday, following Burnley's FA Cup loss to Lincoln City, Joey Barton has hit back the only way he knows how... with a bizarre and philosophical Instagram post.
Barton, never the sort to go about his business quietly, attempted to get Lincoln's Matt Rhead sent off in the second half, after he feigned injury.
The ex-Rangers star was heavily criticised for the incident, especially considering Barton appeared to tread on Rhead's foot before the confrontation.

This of course isn't the first time that Barton has clashed with an opposition player, fans will undoubtedly remember his standoff with Arsenal's Gervinho in 2011 and his battle with Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero in 2012.

As such, Barton is now a seasoned professional when it comes to dealing with the aftermath of an on-field clash, something he showed rather eloquently this afternoon with this philosophical Instagram post:

Despite the drama surrounding Barton during the match, Lincoln retained their composure and scored the only goal of the game as Sean Raggett headed past Tom Heaton in the 89th-minute.
