Joe Hart Set To Miss Out On World Cup Squad

England's number one from the qualifying stages looks set to stay at home rather than be in Russia for the World Cup.

Gareth Southgate is readying making Joe Hart the goalkeeper to miss out on the World Cup this summer with the on loan West Ham keeper to be usurped by three goalies after his stint as number one.

There was a time when Joe Hart could not be replaced as England number one. For a good while that's because the Manchester City goalie was definitely the best shot stopper in the land, that is no longer the case.

Even after Hart stopped being the definite best around there was a time when England managers seemed reticent to drop him as number one. Even last season when he was on loan at Torino, hardly pulling up trees, he remained the man between the sticks for the Three Lions.

Throughout the World Cup qualifying campaign Hart was number one but he has been replaced in friendlies since by Jordan Pickford and the Everton man looks likely to be the one with the gloves come the summer.

Hart was still expected to go to Russia, potentially as third choice, but according to the Mirror today it seems the 30 year old will now miss out to Pickford, Jack Butland and Tom Heaton.

For the recently friendlies against Italy and Netherlands Gareth Southgate called up four keepers with many assuming that the addition of both Nick Pope and Hart was in order to soften the blow when Hart was completely dropped.

Pope has impressed all season with Burnley earning himself the call up and the former Bury loanee is said to have also impressed the coaching team for the national side.

However that will not be enough to take the 25 year old to Russia this summer and should Heaton take the number one spot back at Burnley before the end of the season then he will be going instead.

Hart doesn't know what the future holds as he won't be going back to Manchester City to play anytime soon but it remains to be seen whether West Ham would want, or can afford, him on a permanent deal.

Once he had the whole world in his hands, now it seems he's dropped it too many times!
