Just like Jack Wilshere, Joe Hart has responded to being left out of England's World Cup squad with a message on social media.

Wilshere and Hart were notable exclusions from Gareth Southgate's 23-man squad, which was announced on Wednesday ahead of the summer World Cup in Russia.

Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland as well as Nick Pope make up his keepers, while Fabian Delph was selected in favour of the Arsenal midfielder.

Southgate remains concerned about the 26-year-old's fitness levels, despite him featuring in 38 games for the Gunners across all competitions.

While Hart's miserable campaign for West Ham has seen him omitted from the England squad.

And a few days removed from Southgate assembling his team, Hart has reacted by posting a message on Instagram:

"Not going to lie, I'm gutted. After 2 years of trying to make the most of a really tough situation, this is hard to take. I'm proud to have put in the graft and play every minute to qualify with the team and have a really important input in that outcome. I know what I bring to the team, but it is what it is. Good luck to the team out there, the players know that even though I won't be there, I will have my England shirt on as a fan this time and supporting all the way.
No fear, go and smash it.

"And proud x" precedes a few lion emojis.

Late on Thursday, Wilshere also took to social media to relay a message about failing to break into the England World Cup squad.

Has Southgate made the right call?
