His fingers appeared to be completely bent and in a seriously bad way as the physio rushed onto the field of play.

A crest-fallen Matt was treated on the pitch and subsequently carried off on a stretcher.

The nature of the injury shocked fans on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "Jamille Matt looks like he's broke every finger in his hand. One of the most disgusting injuries I've seen in a while."

A second tweeted: "I honestly did not think your fingers could go back like that. Looks seriously bad for Jamille Matt."

A third added: "Nasty one that. All four fingers dislocated it looks like."

The injury to the 31-year-old is a huge blow for Forest Green who could now be without their prolific front-man for a lengthy period of time.

The former Blackpool and Newport man has scored 16 league goals this season - his best return of his career.

Get well soon!
