Jamie Carragher Won't Be Appearing On Monday Night Football Tonight

It comes after he was filmed spitting at a Man United fan and his 14-year old daughter.

Jamie Carragher is set to be absent from his role as a pundit for Monday Night Football tonight, following the spitting storm that emerged last night.

In footage obtained by The Mirror, the former England international was driving in his car and being goaded by a United fan after Liverpool's 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

The supporter was heard saying "Unlucky Jamie lad!" and "2-1!". After the fan wound his window down, Carragher reacted by spitting towards them.

In the clip filmed by the Dad, the girl, 14, says "He spat on me" and adds, "On my face" when he asks where it hit her.

The Sky Sports pundit was scheduled to appear on MNF alongside his former manager Brendan Rodgers for coverage of Stoke City vs Manchester City but Sky News have tweeted to say the former England international will sit this one out.

As per The Mirror, who broke the story, Carragher was asked to explain his behaviour by Sky bosses and they have elected to pull him from tonight's broadcast.

In addition, the 40-year old is to embark on a two-week break was already slated prior Saturday's incident and it's believed he is still an active employee with the company.

Danish TV station TV3 Sport booked him for punditry duties for the Champions League game between United and Sevilla tomorrow night but have decided to remove him for the game.

Executive director Peter Nørrelund addressed the incident in an interview with Ekstra Bladet, saying:

"It does not look good. He should have been at Old Trafford tomorrow for United-Sevilla, and we have chosen to sit over.

"We have sent an employee to Liverpool so we can get the story from the horse's mouth."
