After missing Colombia's defeat to Japan in game one, James Rodriguez was doing bits on the world stage yet again this evening.

A star was well and truly born four years ago in Brazil when James was the Golden Boot winner, netting six goals as his country reached the quarter finals.

Fast forward to the present day in Russia and Rodriguez is still thriving in the showpiece, producing a masterclass, Man of the Match performance in his first game of he tournament as Colombia knocked Poland out courtesy of a 3-0 win in Group H.

The 26-year old delivered two absolutely gorgeous assists with his trusty left foot in the rout - one for Yerry Mina to open the scoring in the first half and a second stunning through ball for Juan Cuadrado to bag the third and send the 30,000 Colombia fans into dreamland.

It means that in the last two tournaments, no player has been involved in more goals than James.

Twitter waxed lyrical over Rodriguez's sublime performance:

The name's Bond, James Rodriguez...
