Hailing from the same neck of the woods as Steven Gerrard, Huyton-native Bobby Duncan is rapidly making a name for himself following his exploits for England under-16's becoming the first England player to score a hat-trick against Brazil.

While the 15-year-old is set to follow in his footsteps of becoming a professional from the famous footballing-clan, Duncan is doing it from different surroundings.

Duncan plies his trade for Premier League rivals Manchester City after sealing a move from Wigan following a stint with both Liverpool and Everton.

The budding talent is already proving to be a prolific scorer bagging 66 goals last season for City's youth as well as 29 for this campaign, not to mention a goal against their cross-town rivals United. Talking of his decision to join the club from the age of 10, he said;

"I'm learning a lot at City. City were building their new academy at the time and with all that investment I thought it would be good place to continue my development."

As well as watching DVD's of Steven and having aspirations that he'll be able to replicate him in the future; "My dad used to give me a DVD to go and watch in the car and it had all of Steven's goals on it. I used to watch that over and over again thinking 'one day that could be me'."

"I've always looked up to Steven. I'm related to him and like me he's a local kid from Huyton. Steven's been a big influence. What he achieved in his career inspires me. He always had that hunger and desire to win trophies. As well as talent, it was his attitude, character and leadership that made him the player he was."

Duncan made history in a thrilling 4-3 victory in an under-16s international at the Granja Comary complex, Brazil's national training centre. And cousin Steven sent him a message congratulating the youngster on the impressive feat; "when he messaged me after the hat-trick that meant a lot."
