Just over a year after suffering a heart attack in training, the Porto squad allowed Iker Casillas to lift the Portuguese Cup on Saturday.

Porto followed up their league title win with a 2-1 victory over Benfica in the Taca de Portugal final on Saturday.

And when it came to the trophy lift, captain Danilo and his teammates waited for Spain and Real Madrid legend Casillas to arrive on the podium and allowed him to do the honours.

It was a wonderful gesture that will have been wholly appreciated by Casillas.

The 38-year old, who hasn't played since suffering the heart scare in May last year, took to Instagram to pay tribute to double-winning manager Sérgio Conceição.

He wrote: "As well as being a serious coach, he is also a great person. In these three years, I've been able to see that Conceicao is like that: very demanding and competitive. He also wants to win and that is transmitted to his players.

"It's easy to say it now, but if in these three years Porto have fought for and won trophies, it's because of this coach. I've even put up with him when he's got angry!

"Congratulations to all the Porto supporters. A glorious season."

Having announced his retirement from football in February, Casillas has been rumoured to be heading back to Real as a technical advisor.
