Paul Pogba had a night to forget on Tuesday as his side slumped to a first-leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. He also received a red card for two bookable offences.

In the 89th minute, Pogba picked up his second caution after a reckless challenge on Dani Alves.

He walked down the tunnel and reportedly vented out his anger in the dressing room by thumping his locker in rage, before apologising to his team-mates according to reports via Mail.

A source said: "Pogba was distraught and he apologised to all of his team-mates. He felt as if he had let them down and he is now gutted to be missing the second leg. He banged his locker in anger several times."

The Frenchman has arguably been United's best player since the managerial appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He's weighed in with goals and assists but was unable to continue his prolific form against PSG.

Rio Ferdinand believes the 'tie is over' following the result at Old Trafford.

"They've got to think about going forward and think about finishing in the top four," the ex-Manchester United defender said in his post-match thoughts.

"This game, this tie is over after the red card."

Paul Ince, who was also in the studio on Tuesday, didn't hold back in his assessment of Pogba's performance.

"Paul Pogba really let himself down against PSG. Just when he's won the fans over, and he's doing everything you expect of a top player, he goes and behaves like that."

Meanwhile, United resume their campaign on Monday as they face Chelsea in the FA Cup, before entertaining Liverpool on the following Sunday in the Premier League.
