According to AS, Barcelona agreed not to sign any Liverpool players for three seasons after they completed a club-record £142 million move for Philippe Coutinho, but there's word on another arrangement the two clubs struck up.

That's because The Times' Paul Joyce, the chief source for all Liverpool news, is reporting that Barcelona have to pay a 'premium clause' of £89 million if they want to sign any Reds' players until 2020.

The clause is pretty much unheard of in the modern game, with Michael Edwards, Liverpool's sporting director, able to get Barcelona to agree even though they weren't best pleased.

Essentially it means that that the Blaugrana have to pay £89 million on top of any transfer fee if they go about trying to do some more business with the Anfield club after snapping up both Coutinho and Luis Suarez.

Whether it's Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or even Alberto Moreno, Barca are obliged to play the subcharge for two years and there's nothing they can do about it.

Barca are pretty much resigned to paying big bucks for any Liverpool player they are interested in - and on Liverpool's part - it puts them in a very good position going forward after the long and arduous saga dragging on with Coutinho.
