While Cristiano Ronaldo churned out a Ballon d'Or winning performance in the Champions League final, Javier Hernandez has put forward another Real Madrid player to win the prestigious individual honour.

Ronaldo bagged a brace which included his 600th career goal. He netted either side of the break to ensure Real Madrid successfully defend the Champions League title.

After starring in the La Liga by scoring 25 league goals, Ronaldo produced more heroics in the Champions League final as he opened the scoring before doubling his tally on the night as Real Madrid beat Juventus 4-1.

But despite the match winning performance, ex-Manchester United hero Hernandez believes Luka Modric deserves the award over his club teammate.

Once Real Madrid wrapped up their 12th European trophy, 'Chicharito' posted the following message on social media.

The post translated reads, "Modric Ballon d'Or please! Huge! Wonderful!"

The Mexican international enjoyed a season at the Bernabeu on loan from United in 2014 before securing a permanent deal with Bundesliga outfit Javier Hernandez.

But the striker struck a bond with the Croatian midfielder while even suggested that he's one of the best signings the club have ever made, per Marca.

Modric joined the Los Blancos in 2012 from Spurs for a fee in the region of £30 million, and has spent five seasons with the European giants becoming a vital part of the sides success domestically and on the European front.

The midfield maestro has won the La Liga title, Copa del Rey and an incredible three Champions League trophies.

Does Hernandez have a point in his choice? Should Modric win the Ballon d'Or award?
