Thierry Henry has reportedly agreed to take his first steps into management with Bordeaux and he's also said to be lining up a former Arsenal colleague as his right-hand man.

Wanting to concentrate on his managerial career, Henry quit his role as a Sky Sports pundit after the World Cup, where he was assistant manager to Roberto Martinez as Belgium finished third.

And after Gus Poyet was suspended for unleashing an astonishing attack on the club's board for sanctioning the sale of striker Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier without him knowing, the World Cup winner looks set to replace the former Chelsea and Spurs midfielder.

RMC are reporting the news that Henry has agreed terms and are also saying he wants Gilles Grimandi as his No.2.

Grimandi, 47, won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups in a five-year spell with the Gunners. He's currently working for the club as their French scout but could well be tempted to leave his post and link up with Henry once again.

Although it is noted that Bordeaux's American owners still need to make their decision on whether they will indeed be appointing him.

If Henry does get the job as expected, it sets up a showdown with his former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira, who was appointed Nice manager in the summer.

Nice and Bordeaux square off on the 27 October and we could see both Henry and Vieira in the dug-out and on the touchline. Arsenal fans will no doubt be looking forward to that one.
