Fiorentina are in talks to complete a deal for Hatem Ben Arfa, who is a free agent after leaving Rennes in the summer.

The 32-year old helped the Ligue One side win the French Cup after beating former club PSG in the final in May but it was then announced that he would not be staying beyond the season.

A whole host of clubs, including Turkish giants Fenerbahce, had been keen on signing the former Newcastle United winger.

But Gianluca Di Marzio from Sky Italia says Fiorentina have held talks with the Frenchman and could make him their second free transfer this summer following the arrival of Franck Ribery after he left Bayern Munich.

It's shaping up to be a pretty busy day of business for the Viola. They have closed a deal to sign 22-year old Brazilian Pedro from Fluminense, as well as being on the verge of drafting in Leicester City winger Rachid Ghezzal on an initial loan that could then become permanent for €9.7 million in the summer.

What's more, Fiorentina are also testing Brescia's resolve with a cheeky late bid for midfielder Sandro Tonali, who has been dubbed 'the new Pirlo'.

TMW say the club have offered €25 million plus bonuses for the 19-year old, who has attracted interest from Juventus, Napoli, Milan, Roma, Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG in the past.1
