Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been hailed as one of the "best centre-forwards in the world," but he is not worth his reported £160m price tag.

That is according to former Spurs striker Darren Bent, who believes that "no-one is going to pay" the staggering transfer fee for Kane.

Kane's future at Tottenham was plunged into doubt ahead of Euro 2020 after reports emerged that he wanted to leave the Premier League club.

The 28-year-old Spurs star, whose current Tottenham deal expires in 2024, has reportedly been targeted by Manchester City in a whopping £160m move.

Kane failed to report for Tottenham training on Monday amid growing speculation over his future.

The wantaway Spurs striker was also absent on Tuesday, but it has since emerged that he faces a period of isolation after returning from a holiday in the Bahamas.

Bent, 37, has now insisted that a "£100m or £120m" price tag would be "more realistic" for Kane.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "Harry Kane is one of the best centre-forwards in the world, but he's not worth £160m.

"He's 28 years old now, he has had injuries... what are you going to get out of him, four or five years? I just don't think it justifies that much money.

"Man City have got the money to do it, but Pep Guardiola and the owners are probably thinking, 'No, £160m is too much.'

"Maybe £100m or £120m, that's more realistic for Harry Kane. But if Daniel Levy is saying he wants £140m, £150m, £160m and Manchester City are not prepared to pay that, no-one is going to pay that.

"And then Harry is going to have to stay and play."

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that Kane is in a "difficult situation," adding that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will "want the full amount" for the England captain.

"As much as I love Harry, he's a fantastic player and great lad, but he's in a difficult situation," he said.

"Because if Daniel doesn't get the money he wants, he's not going to say, 'We love you, Harry, you've been a great servant and we're going to let you go for this amount.'

"He's going to want the full amount before letting him go. Unless Daniel gets the money he wants, it's not going to happen.

"If he wants £160m and someone is offering £130m or £140m, they are not going to get him. Daniel won't budge."
