Erling Haaland's former Molde teammate has revealed the teenager's remarkable body transformation during an injury lay-off.

Ruben Gabrielsen says the star striker returned to the club after a spell on the sideline a "different animal."

The Norwegian came back from an injury lay-off bigger and stronger at Molde.

Gabrielsen recalls his first impressions of "small guy" Halaand and how he performed in training after becoming a beast.

"When he came to the club, he was a small guy... he was not so good to be honest with you," the defender explained. "I was just thinking: 'Yeah, maybe he can play in Norway.'

"And then he got sick and injured, and we didn't see him for a long time, and he came back big as f**k... he was so big! He was a different animal!

"He was killing everybody in training... we just started laughing and I was like, 'Who is this guy?' And then it just skyrocketed from there."

Gabrielsen continued by saying Haaland would be prolific on match day despite having a poor week in training.

"With Haaland, when he played in Norway with me, he didn't score for a week in training before a game. We were laughing at him!

"And when I heard he was starting the game I was thinking, 'No way... how can we play with this guy!?' And after 50 minutes he'd scored four goals. And after that, things just skyrocketed.

"But I think he learned an important lesson that, when tough times come, just work harder. And young players have a chance to learn that now," he added.

Haaland went onto move to RB Salzburg from Molde before completing a transfer to Borussia Dortmund, where he has continued his ascent to stardom.

He has chipped in with an impressive 12 goals in 11 games so far in all competitions since his January switch.
