Red Bull Salzburg phenom Erling Haaland has Liverpool in his crosshairs and he believes he has a "trick" up his sleeve against Virgil van Dijk.

Haaland burst onto the scene in the summer during the Under-20 World Cup as he bagged NINE goals in a single match, and he's continued his goal scoring ways in the new season.

He scored a hat-trick on his Champions League debut - taking his tally to 17 for the season already.

Next up for Salzburg; a trip to Anfield to face the Champions League holders. The 19-year-old is tasked with facing Van Dijk and he's hoping to "trick" FIFA's 'The Best' defender and set him out of position when they meet on Wednesday.

"I don't think you can train to play against him, but you can train on things that can maybe trick him or set him out of position," he said.

"We all have to be at our best ever, every player, to have a chance against this team."

Haaland's one of the most sought-after talents in world football with the likes of Manchester United reportedly monitoring him, and he's named a former Red as his biggest role model.

"I had a lot of role models and looked up too many footballers, but Zlatan Ibrahimović is the biggest one," he added.

"The way he became so good, the way he plays - and also he's Scandinavian, so someone has to take over from him!

"Every football player dreams of playing for one of the best and biggest clubs in the world. This has been a dream my whole life and I especially like English football."

The promising striker also credited United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his ascent to stardom.

"He had a very big impact on my life and he taught me a lot," he said. He's one of the reasons I'm here today. He's a good person and a good coach."
