Nasty!

Former Juventus and Inter Milan midfielder Felipe Melo has been in the wars recently and suffered a gruesome-looking injury.

The 33-year old now plies his trade with Brazilian Serie A champions Palmeiras and they came up against Corinthians in a fixture that his side lost 1-0.

And at one point in the game, Melo was involved in a nasty collision with teammate Yerry Mina and came out worse off than his colleague.

The Brazilian international had to have 13 stitches as a result of the facial injury and the gash above his eye doesn't make for great viewing:

The stitches have made his deep cut look a lot better than it originally did but it still looks incredibly painful

He looks like he's done 12 rounds with Mike Tyson!

Writing about the injury on his blog, he said:

"It is not soft, no. I hurt a lot. I went through a small surgical procedure today, and this time a suture of 20 stitches.

"But I'll be in the fight again soon !!!"

Something tells me Felipe will be wearing a facial mask for any upcoming games...

Get well soon, Felipe!
