With Arsenal mounting a spirited comeback during their 4-3 opening day defeat to Liverpool, yesterday, Arsene Wenger threw £30m Summer recruit Granit Xhaka into the fray, hoping the Swiss international could help the Gunners salvage a draw from the jaws of defeat. However, it wasn't to be and instead the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder ended the game with an unwanted record.

During his 24 minute second half cameo, Xhaka attempted six tackles. He won none of them, committed four fouls and received a yellow card for his troubles. No player in Premier League history has committed more fouls in the opening round of the season.

The Swiss midfielder will be hoping to make a better impression this Saturday, when the Gunners travel to Champions Leicester for their second game of the season.
