A government report states that it is 'unconvinced' by the case put forward for safe standing to be introduced in England - despite the success at Celtic.
The first annual Sporting Future report looks at all elements of sport within the UK and included calls for safe standing to be brought in down South too.
There have been several bids from clubs and fans in England to introduce a specific section of their stadium where supporters can stand to watch games. Spirit of Shankly - a Liverpool supporters union - is even conducting a consultation on it with their members.

Celtic were the first British club to try it last year and it's been a huge success, with the Green Brigade supporters group housed there and contributing to a fantastic match day experience at Celtic Park.
But despite the success of that, the report states that it is 'unconvinced' and that will come as a blow to anyone hoping safe standing is introduced in England.
Per liverpoolecho.co.uk, the report states:

"Since a rail seating section was installed at Celtic Park, there has been growing speculation that such accommodation could be introduced into Premier League and Championship football grounds.
"Government remains unconvinced by the case put forward for re-introducing standing accommodation at football grounds covered by the all-seater requirement, but will continue to monitor how it is working at Celtic."
Safe standing has been a resounding success at Celtic Park and any fans of the Scottish champions will no doubt recommend it to any other club.
But there appear to be continued concerns among the British government for it to be rolled out across the country - which should come as a setback to fans keen on improving the atmosphere inside their team's stadium.
