Barcelona Midfielder Andre Gomes Gives A Heartbreaking Interview About His Current Situation

Very honest stuff from the Portugal international.

Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes has given a heart-rending interview regarding his current situation and says he is no longer enjoying playing football.

The Portugal international moved to the Nou Camp from Valencia in 2016 but has really struggled to get going and nail down a starting place.

In his 25 outings this term, he's only completed 90 minutes on four occasions and admits he is seriously feeling the pressure at the moment.

Speaking to Spanish publication Panenka, via Goal, he said:

"I don't feel well on the field, I am not enjoying the thing I like to do.The first six months were pretty good but then things changed.

"Maybe it's not the correct word but it turned into a bit of a hell, because I started to feel more pressure. With pressure I feel fine, but with pressure on myself, I don't. The feeling that I have during games is bad."

The 24-year old has been booed by his own supporters this season, most recently during the 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid on March 4.

Worryingly, Gomes is overthinking things to the extent that on more then one occasion he didn't want to leave his house because he was ashamed.

"In more than one occasion, I didn't want to leave my house," he added.

"Because people look at you, having the fear of going on the street out of shame.

"My friends tell me I am going with the handbrake on. I close myself off. I don't take the frustration I have out. Then I don't talk to anybody, I don't bother anyone. It is like I feel ashamed.

"Thinking too much has hurt me. I think about the bad things and what I have to do. Although my team-mates help me a lot, the things don't work out the way they want them to work out."

Really harrowing stuff from Gomes, who is having a really tough time at the moment.

AC Milan have been heavily linked with him, and with the way he's talking, it sounds like a change of scenery is exactly what he needs to get his career back on track.
