Last night's draw against Qarabag may have marked one of Atletico Madrid's worst Champions League results in recent memory, leaving Los Rojiblancos on the verge of elimination at the group stage, but Diego Simeone's team did have one spectacular moment to savour.
The La Liga giants could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to the Azerbaijani outfit, having previously drawn with them in Baku two weeks ago. The result means that a Chelsea victory in Baku against Qarabag during the next round of fixtures will eliminate Atletico from the group stage, regardless of their result against Roma.
But thanks to Thomas Partey, there was one memorable moment for Atleti fans, as the Ghanaian midfielder curled home a majestic 30-yard effort into the top corner.
The technique the 24-year-old uses to guide the ball into the top corner is particularly impressive, although Atleti fans would have been wishing the strike was a winning goal and not an equaliser, as Los Rojiblancos toiled to a third draw in four group games.
Atleti's domestic season has also gotten off to an inconsistent start, with Simeone's men winning five and drawing five of their opening 10 league games, leaving them eight points behind leaders Barcelona, already.
