Marcus Rashford has fired Manchester United into the next round of the League Cup with a stunning 35-yard free-kick against Chelsea.

The 21-year-old United star has been heavily criticised for his form in front of net this season, but he put on a show-stealing performance against the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

Rashford, who opened the scoring in the first half from the spot-kick, stepped over the ball for a free-kick in the second half.

And the England international's superb strike effortlessly made its way up and over the wall and beat Willy Caballero with ease.

Fans have sent social media into overdrive as they've praised Rashford for his match-winning strike.

Rashford, who turns 22 on Thursday, was replaced in the 80th minute for Ashley Young.

The United forward has managed to score five times in ten league appearances this season, but he has missed the opportunity to increase his goalscoring tally from the spot-kick.

Rashford missed the chance to convert a penalty in United's 3-1 victory over Norwich last Sunday, and he also failed to score from the spot-kick in his side's shock 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in August.

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi handed the Blues a lifeline in the second half before Rashford scored his sensational free-kick.

The Red Devils have now progressed to the last eight of the competition as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to secure his first piece of silverware as United boss.
