WATCH: Lionel Messi Makes Argentine History With Wonder Free-Kick

He's pretty good.

Lionel Messi is often on the receiving end of criticism over not being good enough internationally yet somehow the Argentina forward managed to become his country's top goalscorer with an incredible free kick in the semi-final of a major tournament. Not bad.

Admittedly the Barcelona forward is missing a major international tournament from his list of achievements and despite being player of the tournament at the 2014 World Cup he's more than often flattered to deceive at the end of season footballing get togethers.

At the current Copa's, the competition's 100 year anniversary tournament, Messi is second top scorer on five goals and last night set one up and scored a curling free-kick in Argentina's 4-0 win over hosts USA to head to the final. The goal made Messi his country's top scorer on 55 goals, bettering Gabriel Batistuta's previous record.

Argentina will face either Colombia, who beat Peru on penalties in the quarterfinals, or current champions Chile, who destroyed Mexico 7-0 in the quarters, with the pair facing off in the second semi tonight.

Chile beat Argentina in the final of the Copa America last year but with Messi looking in top form now is the best time for one of the world's best players to end his international tournament hoodoo.

It helps that meanwhile his arch 'nemesis' Cristiano Ronaldo isn't having a great Euros.
