Legendary Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling has admitted that he is contemplating retiring from his position.

The 62-year old has had a 40-year career in broadcasting and has been the main man for the popular Gillette Soccer Saturday show, which has become part of the Saturday routine if you are a football fan.

Considering you are basically just watching a bunch of blokes in a studio watching football, it's a show that shouldn't really work but it's captured the imagination of fans and is always must-watch TV.

There have been so many memorable moments, whether it's Paul Merson talking utter nonsense, Charlie Nicholas delivering the weakest comeback we've ever seen or Chris Kamara's many gaffes, there's never a dull moment in the show.

Stelling is the man who keeps the show together but he appears to be coming to the end of his time hosting the show.

Jeff is always one for dishing out the banter and had a dig at rivals BT Sport back at the start of the season:

And the way he presents and conveys the drama, emotion and unpredictability in the game of football always goes down a treat.

However, he might not be doing it for much longer.

The Hartlepool fan has revealed that he is contemplating retirement and would like to spend more time relaxing in Portugal as opposed to waiting for Kammy to find out whether or not there has actually been a red card in the game.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said:

"I don't know how much longer I'll do presenting. I've done it for 40 years.

"I am not sure how long it will go on for. I might want to put my feet up. I am getting on - the next decision will be retirement."

"I want to stick my feet up on the beach. We spend as much time as we can in Portugal when it isn't the football season. I love it there. I'd be very happy to spend a bit more time out there."

Of course, it's up to Jeff to decide when to call it a day but we're really not ready for him take off his presenting cap just yet.

There's no-one in the world that would be anywhere near as brilliantly entertaining.
