There's no country protection in the next round of the Champions League so it could throw up some tasty, tasty fixtures.

Spurs failed to progress to the quarter-finals after getting dumped out by Italian champions Juventus, but fellow Premier League sides Manchester City and Liverpool have booked their places.

City and Liverpool comfortably saw off FC Basel and FC Porto, respectively.

And Manchester United and Chelsea will be seeking to follow suit when they take on Spanish opposition, next week.

But ahead of next Friday's quarter-final draw, Steven Gerrard is hoping for a Manchester derby, while hoping Liverpool avoid the runaway English leaders.

"I was thinking more Man Utd vs Man City," he said on BT Sports. "That would be dead exciting.

Who does Gerrard want in the next round?

Well, when asked about potentially facing Juventus, he said he'd be happy with that draw.

"Yes I'd be happy with that. I think Liverpool can hurt them and score against them.

He added: "You know Juventus have got that know how which would concern me.

"From Liverpool's point of view, I would be confident against anyone. Over two legs, they can be strong.

Gerrard also likes Liverpool's chances, but, just like Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard, he's picking Real Madrid to become champions of Europe for the third straight year in a row.

"Liverpool have a chance but Real are rightly favourites.
