Wayne Rooney Still Has A Guinness World Record To His Name

Wayne Rooney might be getting grief from all angles at the moment, but there is one achievement the Manchester United and England captain can seek solace in, and that's the fact that he still holds the Guinness world record for most appearances on the cover of FIFA games.

England's record goal scorer has appeared on the cover of seven editions of the EA Sports franchise, proving himself as a mainstay between the 2006 and 2012 releases.

However, since 2012 the England captain has been shunted in favour of Lionel Messi, who is now hot on Rooney's heels with four covers to his name, appearing on every game between FIFA 13 and 16. FIFA 17's cover has been split between James Rodriguez, Anthony Martial, Marco Reus and Eden Hazard, which may suggest that even a five time Ballon d'Or winner isn't invulnerable to EA's ruthless casting aside of popular cover stars.
