Thomas Partey Has Better Defending Stats Than Harry Maguire On FIFA 21

Thomas Partey Has Better Defending Stats Than Harry Maguire On FIFA 21

Arsenal's latest big-money signing Thomas Partey has a higher overall defending stat than Manchester United defender Harry Maguire in FIFA 21.

The 27-year-old completed a late move to the Emirates after the club activated his £45 million transfer release clause on Transfer Deadline Day, and is expected to make his debut against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

Partey, a dynamic midfielder known for his ability in defensive and attacking areas, will certainly bring a wealth of experience to what is already a promising Arsenal side under Mikel Arteta.

And as well as having a strong all-round game, his aggressive style should suit the Premier League, as his stats clearly show in the latest edition of FIFA.

The Ghana international has an overall defending stat of 82 in FIFA 21, which is higher than some of his fellow teammates, including David Luiz, Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney.

In fact, Partey's overall defending stat is higher than the world's most expensive defender, Harry Maguire, who only has 81 defending in the latest edition of the game.

Partey also has 84 interceptions compared to Maguire's 78, and he beats the England international when it comes to standing and sliding tackles too.

Twitter user @ArsenalAtHeartt posted the surprise comparison on social media earlier.

Partey put pen to paper on a £250,000 a week, four-year contract at the Premier League side on Transfer Deadline Day.

He made 46 appearances for Atletico in 2019/20, playing a key role in their third-placed finish in La Liga, as well as reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Arsenal's technical director Edu says his all-round game and positive aggressive style will add another dimension to the team.

"Thomas has all the right attributes to be a top player for Arsenal. He is a leader on and off the pitch and he is exactly the kind of player and person we want at the club. We already feel like we know Thomas very well based on the work we have done analysing his performances closely in recent times.

"With his all-round game and positive aggressive style, he will be a brilliant addition to our squad. We've made a strong start to the season and we want to continue to build on this with Thomas now part of our club."

Thoughts on the signing of Partey? Can Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title this year following his addition?
