Antoine Griezmann Got Banned From FIFA 15 And Was 'So Upset He Rang Up The French Office'

Antoine Griezmann was left distraught after he was banned from FIFA 15 for buying Ultimate Team coins, according to a former EA community manager.

The 28-year-old French forward has never been shy to hide his love for all things FIFA and Football Manager.

But ex-EA community manager Chukwuma Morah claimed the Barcelona star was caught out for buying Ultimate Team coins.

Morah, who is better known by his pseudonym 'Chu Boi,' stepped down as community manager for the FIFA franchise a few weeks after FIFA 15 launched.

But he took to Twitter to share the 'true story' of how Griezmann ended up getting banned on FIFA.

'Chu Boi' said that the World Cup winner was "so upset" that he rang up the EA office in France and the publisher returned his players.

"True story: we once banned Griezmann's account for coin buying in FIFA 15," he wrote.

"Dude called the French office so upset and we gave him the players back."

Fans weren't happy at the fact that Griezmann received preferential treatment for his celebrity status.

But Morah, who is now an eSports host and influencer, tried to calm down angry FIFA players by saying that Griezmann didn't have his coins returned to him.

"For everyone getting mad: he didn't get his coins back if it makes you feel any better," he tweeted.

EA Sports has continued to clamp down on Ultimate Team coin sellers in recent years and takes a hard-line stance on those buying and selling coins in the popular online mode.

Morah also revealed that other professional players purchased coins to improve their Ultimate Teams, only to realise that EA doesn't sell coins.

When a Twitter user said players buying coins showed how "overpriced" the in-game currency is, he responded: "Nah most pros actually thought they were buying from EA and it was totally fine. Not even joking."

FIFA 15 was released in 2014 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and mobile devices.

The most recent instalment in the long-running franchise, FIFA 20, launched last month for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
