AS Roma will simply be known as 'Roma FC' in this year's FIFA, while the club will also have a custom crest and kit.

There was absolute uproar last when champions Juventus signed an exclusivity deal with Pro Evolution Soccer that led to them being called 'Piemonte Calcio' on FIFA as a result.

Even with a star-studded squad containing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala, plenty of people could not bring themselves to play with an unlicensed Juve side in FIFA 20 as it really wasn't the same.

It's a repeat scenario for Juve this time around, only that they've been joined by another Serie A side in Roma for FIFA 21. It comes as a big blow, particularly given the Giallorossi's consistently wonderful kits will not be in the game.

With the closed FIFA 21 beta launched on Friday, Roma's badge - which has been compared to the crests of both Rangers and CFR Cluj, has been leaked online and it's fair to say fans aren't liking it.

It also appears as though Serie B, the second tier of Italian football, is not licensed at all in FIFA 21.

At the start of the month, EA Sports clarified the situation in regards to Roma's involvement in FIFA 21 - confirming that players and likenesses will remain authentic.

"AS Roma will now be Roma FC, playable and equipped with a custom badge and kit throughout Kick-Off, Career Mode, FIFA Ultimate Team and VOLTA FOOTBALL," an official statement read.

"Roma FC will now compete in Stadion Olympik. You can still expect to see the same AS Roma real-world, authentic players and related likenesses in EA Sports FIFA 21 and EA Sports FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.

"Player Chemistry within EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Ultimate Team will be unaffected by these changes. We'd like to thank everyone at AS Roma for the years of collaboration as the team's Official Sports Video Gaming partner."
