Gabriel Posts Positive Update After Suffering Horrific Looking Injury

Finally some good news for Arsenal fans

When Gabriel left the pitch in tears during Arsenal's 3-2 pre-season victory over Manchester City over the weekend, Gunners fans everywhere collectively sighed with resignation as their defensive injury woes appeared to worsen on the eve of the Premier League season kicking off. But, in a rare twist of fortune, it would appear that the Brazilian centre half's fitness troubles aren't as bad as first thought.

With Per Mertesacker sidelined for five months, Arsene Wenger is already facing a selection headache as it is, with the Gunners facing a difficult opening game of the season, against Liverpool, on Sunday. However, the Arsenal boss has been offered some crumbs of comfort from Gabriel's recent Instagram post which suggests his injury isn't too serious.

While no official word has been given as to when Gabriel will actually return to action, it would appear it will be sooner rather than later, although this weekend's visit of Liverpool will likely be too soon for the former Villareal man.
