Newcastle Fan Wins Crossbar Challenge, Celebrates Like Alan Shearer And Nutmegs Steward

Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse for Sunderland fans...

It must be difficult being a Sunderland fan right now. To put things into perspective, the Black Cats have played 42 games in all competitions this season and somehow, your team has conceded three goals or more in twelve of those matches.

To put the icing on top of the cake, two second half goals from promotion hopefuls Preston North End heaped further misery on Chris Coleman's side, but things looked on the up at half-time - that was until a Newcastle fan decided to spoil the party.

As a number of Sunderland fans were pitted against each other in a crossbar challenge competition at the interval, one Newcastle supporter won the competition and proceeded to perform the famous Alan Shearer celebration in front of 28,000 fans.

As you can see in the footage above, a steward tried to stop the man but he showed his skills and nutmegged him in a brilliant moment at the Stadium of Light. Even the home support couldn't help but chuckle.

Twitter user and Preston North End fan @sergiobiscuits_summed up the scene quite perfectly:

"Sunderland are abysmal. Could you be arsed? Freezing. Stadium empty at 65 mins. Down to 10 men. North End fans taking the piss. To top it off a bloke in a Newcastle kit won the crossbar challenge at HT and did a lap of the pitch celebrating like Shearer. League 1 beckons."

Here's the bloke, moments before he smashed the crossbar.

After 22 games and 364 days, Sunderland did finally win a game of football at the Stadium Of Light back in December, but since that win against Fulham the club have struggled.

Can they stay up or is relegation an inevitability?
