Victor Valdes Is Launching His Own Dating App. No, Really

For when you really need to find a keeper

Six months ago, Victor Valdes was a three time Champions League winning goalkeeper seeing out the final days of an underwhelming loan spell at Standard Liege.

The former Barcelona stopper was Louis Van Gaal's public enemy number one at Manchester United and looked destined to suffer the indignity of seeing out his playing days at whichever club would have him, rather than being one of the most prized goalkeepers in the modern game.

Fast forward half a year and not only has the Spanish custodian has been given a new lease of life under Aitor Karanka at Middlesbrough, he's even launching his own dating app. No, seriously.

The app, which the 'Boro man has christened 'Hola!' is aimed at those people who are too nervous to approach or talk to others in nigthclubs.

In the launch video, Valdes explains "We think that in the dating world, you can feel attracted to someone on the bus, the metro, in a cafe, or in a college or club. But, you don't necessarily have the courage to approach them and break the ice. Therefore you need this app."

The app, designed and written by software engineers at the public Autonomous University of Barcelona, isn't currently ready to be launched just yet as it is still in the beta testing development phase, but it expected to be launched onto iOs and Android app stores soon.

So, if you're on the look out for a keeper, who better to trust than a man who is one for a living? Jesus, that sounded terrific. Excuse me, I need to see if big Vic needs a marketing man.
