When Dan Walker presented FA Cup final match winner Jesse Lingard with the Man Of The Match champagne yesterday, there were a few raised eyebrows, with many fans believing United captain Wayne Rooney to have been the more deserving recipient of the award. Well, it just so happens that Rooney was supposed to receive the honour before a slight communication error.
Of course, given that he scored a stunning extra time winner, no one begrudged Lingard the award, which he gladly received during his post-match interview with Walker on the Wembley pitch.

However, it turns out that Lingard's prize was given to him in error, Walker has this afternoon confirmed. It turns out that Lingard was BT's choice as Man Of The Match, not the BBC's who instead voted for Rooney
We're guessing the champagne's long gone by now, although judging by the videos of the celebrations from yesterday, we imagine Rooney still had his fair share.
