Liverpool star Andy Robertson hilariously revealed that he doesn't want Lionel Messi to score a single time in the Premier League and instead remain at Barcelona.

The 33-year-old Argentine superstar stunned the world last week after handing in a transfer request and wanting to end his legendary time at Barcelona.

But the Spanish club are battling to keep Messi at the Camp Nou amid intense speculation linking him to Manchester City.

Robertson, 26, is well aware of the threat that the Barcelona captain brings on the pitch after playing against him in the Champions League.

When ESPN asked the Liverpool left-back how many times Messi would score in his first season in the Premier League, he responded: "Hopefully none because he stays at Barcelona, to be honest with you!

"If he does, I'm sure he'll smash the record no doubt."

Messi has also been linked with potential moves to Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that any team in the world would love to have the six-time Ballon d'Or winner.

However, the 53-year-old German insisted that there is "no chance" that Messi will arrive at Anfield this summer.

"It will obviously help Man City [if they sign Messi] and make it more difficult to beat them," Klopp said.

"For the Premier League, it would be great that would help but I am not sure the Premier League needs that boost.

"He's never played in another league. Football is different here. I'd like to see it. Not sure I will."

Barcelona are adamant that Messi would only be allowed to leave this summer if a club meets his mammoth £627.96m release clause.

Messi, who broke into the Barcelona senior team in 2004, has only one year remaining on his current deal with the club.
