We really wanted it to be true, but Keano has denied it.

Former Spurs player Dorian Dervite shared a quite incredible story of how Robbie Keane introduced him to English football - but the Irish legend has poured cold water on it.

Dervite, a former France youth international, joined Spurs in 2006 but only made one appearance against Port Vale when he played at centre-back alongside Michael Dawson.

The 29-year old was a Spurs player for four years, spending the majority of his time playing for the youth and reserve sides as well as a short loan spell with Southend United.

Yet despite not been a first-team regular, the Bolton Wanderers defender told a story about former Spurs captain Keane and it involves drinks, a bar, slide tackles and two girls.

Speaking on SFR Sport show "Le Vestiaire", he revealed:

"After two or three drinks, he started coming towards me and said to me, 'I will show you how to do a real slide-tackle in England.'

"I held onto his glass and then he started to sprint and finished by tackling two women who were at the bar."

As outstanding as the story is, well-travelled striker Keane says it is "absolutely false" and that Dervite is making up to try and get publicity.

Dervite left Spurs in 2010 and joined Villarreal's B team. After spending two years in Spain, he returned to England with Charlton Athletic before signing for Bolton in 2014 - where he's made 73 appearances in four years.
